ACT
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
ACT is a values-based therapy that supports people in developing psychological flexibility — the ability to stay present with difficult thoughts or emotions while still taking meaningful action. It works well for anxiety, depression, chronic pain, trauma, perfectionism, and people who feel “stuck” or disconnected from what matters most to them.
In ACT-based skills learning, you’ll learn to step back from unhelpful thoughts, practice mindfulness, and make room for uncomfortable emotions instead of avoiding them. At the same time, therapy helps you identify your values — the things that truly matter to you — and take small, committed steps toward living in alignment with them. ACT doesn’t aim to “fix” or eliminate difficult thoughts and feelings, but rather to change how you relate to them so they no longer get in the way of the life you want to lead.
