CBT

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

CBT is a goal-focused, practical therapy that helps people identify and change unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaviour. It’s widely used for issues like anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, OCD, and anger. CBT is built on the idea that our thoughts, feelings, and behaviours are interconnected — and by changing how we think and act, we can change how we feel.

In therapy, clients learn to recognise distorted or negative thinking patterns and test them against evidence. You’ll often use worksheets, keep thought records, or practise new behaviours between sessions. CBT is typically short to medium term and includes collaborative goal setting and regular reviews. It’s highly structured and active — clients are encouraged to try out new strategies in everyday life to build confidence and resilience.
